Beverly’s

Today I had brunch at Beverly’s in Saratoga Springs, New York. It’s a little place a block or two off the main road that runs through town. That one thing I like about it, it’s not such a huge place. The service was good. There weren’t many other people there, so we got enough attention. I got a decaf coffee, which was good, but I’m not a coffee connoisseur, so I don’t have too much of an opinion on that. I had Steak Benedict with roasted potatoes. I had never had Eggs Benedict before so it was a whole new experience. It was a little cold when I got it, but not ice cold. The steak was thick, and cooked perfectly; brown on the outside, juicy and pink on the inside. The eggs were also cooked well. I feel that in the ideal Eggs Benedict, the egg whites are fully cooked, and the yolk is still runny. The eggs were done almost perfectly. The yolk was a little firmer than I would have liked but it was still very good. I got my hollandaise sauce on the side, so I could have just the right amount. The sauce was very good quality, rich and flavorful. The dish did need some more salt, though. The roasted potatoes were all right, not as crispy as I would have liked. The meal cost around $10, so it was a little on the pricy side for breakfast.
